Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to the Mayville Primary School website.
We hope you enjoy our site and getting to know our school.

"Working together in the pursuit of excellence for all"

We are very proud of our school and I am delighted and privileged to be the Headteacher at Mayville. Anyone who visits our school quickly notices that Mayville is a very special place.

Visitors often comment on the positive atmosphere in the school and particularly how well-behaved, happy, and hard-working our children are. I am immensely proud of what we do here.  Mayville is a wonderfully engaged and diverse community with a real buzz of purposeful activity.

Mayville also hosts a range of excellent facilities, including a football size astro-turf pitch, nature garden and our very own amphitheatre.

Ms Sharon Parson
Headteacher

We have cultivated an environment where Children are supported in becoming confident and independent young people, who thrive on challenges, and are motivated to learn. All schools have their own distinctive ‘feel’, which makes each one unique.  We believe that the ‘special feel’ at Mayville Primary comes from our caring, supportive and friendly environment.

I am extremely proud to lead a team who are committed to children's well-being, achieving high standards and providing the very best opportunities for all in our care.  Staff, supported by Trustees, work hard to deliver a rich and challenging curriculum; to prepare children for future education and to help them acquire the skills and enthusiasm needed to embrace the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.  This continues to be recognised beyond the school through the many external awards and accolades that celebrate our Good Practice.

The excellent start begins in Nursery and continues on through the school with staff providing a happy, supportive and purposeful environment, with a curriculum that excites and stimulates children’s imaginations and creative thinking.   The curriculum is delivered through a cross-curricular approach, which is further enhanced, by ‘hooks’ and an enquiry-based learning philosophy.   Frequent trips and visits, community activities and a wide range of after-school clubs further add to the opportunities available to children.

In our recent inspection, Ofsted said:

‘leaders and staff are always looking for ways to extend pupils wider experiences’.

A key to our work is forging partnerships with parents and carers so that our children make the best possible progress.  Appointments with senior leaders can be made through the office or directly with teaching staff and upon request, we will always try to see parents and carers as soon as possible.

Please look around our website to find out more, or come along to one of our parent tours.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
