Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At our school, we are committed to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential. We value all children equally and strive to provide an inclusive environment where pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are supported to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
How We Identify and Support Pupils
We follow a graduated approach:
-
Assess – Identify needs through observation, assessment and discussion.
-
Plan – Create appropriate support strategies and targets.
-
Do – Deliver the agreed support and interventions.
-
Review – Evaluate progress and adapt provision as needed.
Support may include:
-
Adapted classroom teaching
-
Small group or 1:1 interventions
-
Additional adult support
-
Individual learning plans
-
Specialist resources or equipment
External Support Services
Where appropriate, we may seek advice or support from external professionals, such as:
-
Educational Psychologists
-
Speech and Language Therapists
-
Occupational Therapists
-
School Nursing Service
-
Local Authority SEND teams
Parents will always be informed and involved in decisions regarding referrals.
Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Some children may have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). These plans outline specific needs and the provision required to support the child. EHCPs are reviewed annually in partnership with parents and relevant professionals.
Our SENDCo
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) oversees SEND provision across the school and works closely with staff, families and external agencies.
If you would like to discuss SEND provision or have any concerns, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment with the SENDCo.
Together, we aim to ensure that every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive within our school community.
