British Values
British Values
At our school, we actively promote British Values to ensure that children develop a strong sense of respect, responsibility and community. These values are embedded throughout our curriculum, assemblies and daily school life.
The five key British Values are:
Democracy
We teach children the importance of having their voices heard. Pupils have opportunities to vote for School Council representatives, share their opinions, and contribute to decisions within the classroom. Through this, they learn that everyone’s voice matters.
The Rule of Law
Children are taught to understand the importance of rules, both within school and in the wider community. Our school rules help to create a safe and fair environment. Pupils learn about the consequences of their actions and why laws are in place to protect us.
Individual Liberty
We encourage pupils to make safe and responsible choices. Children are supported to develop independence, confidence and self-awareness, understanding their rights and personal freedoms while respecting those of others.
Mutual Respect
Respect is at the heart of our school ethos. Pupils are taught to value themselves and others, celebrate achievements, and treat everyone with kindness and consideration.
Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs
We promote understanding of different cultures, religions and beliefs through our curriculum and collective worship. Children learn to appreciate diversity and recognise that differences should be respected and celebrated.
By promoting these values, we prepare our pupils for life in modern Britain and help them become thoughtful, responsible and active members of society.
